The spiritual year at St. Andrew High started out appropriately with the annual student retreat, October 10-12, given by the Rev. Frank Gartland, C. S. C. Father Gartland is currently the Editor of the Catholic Boy and National Director of the 'Knights of the Altar. Stressing parti- cularly the importance of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, Father Gartland gave the retreatants an opportunity to reflect on their daily religious life. Father's advice and counseling should be of as- sistance to the students desirous of making progress in becoming worthy temples of the Holy Ghost. Right: The Unit Leaders of Saint Andrew's sodality are shown planning the coming meeting. Co-prefects Mary Shay and Carl Roeser offer sug- gestions to these leaders on the ways and means of making the meetings more profitable for the sodalists. ff nj Reverend Father Frank Gartland, C. S. C The meeting of the Saint Peter unit will now come to order, says unit leader, Thomas McCartney, as he be- gins the weekly meeting. Members of this all-boy unit from L. to R. are: Karl Boland, David Busch, William Taylor, leader, Thomasx McCartney, Phillip Stephan, Bruce Gnatkowski, and Patrick Lafferty.

Bulletin boards have a very impressive way of stressing something of importance. Members of Sister Mary Antoinette's ninth grade religion class prepare a display in realization of this fact. This instructive board depicts, The Way of Divine Love. 2' ...QA 'bg With the graduation of the class of 56 , a nine year old tradition will come to an end. Each year since our present seniors were fourth graders, they have paid tribute to Saint joseph by singing a high mass in his honor on his feast day, March 19. They are pictured above as members of the eighth grade, and below as they appeared this year Freshmen students of Saint Andrew study the public life of jesus Christ.
