Page Six The Very Reverend Timothy Kroboth Pastor's Message y 'l'he Family Faces Forwardl' What an appropriate theme for this 1945 Year Book! The Family. that is everybody, father, mother, children, look for- ward With apprehension. The war is nearly over, but the Peace-will it bring prosperity or adversity? That means a great deal to father and mother. The children look forward with anxiety. The War is nearly over, yes, but not the fighting or the post-war occupation of foreign lands. The future may bring to the graduates a long absence from family and home. The Catholic Family, may look forward with apprehension and anxiety, but not without comfort. Almighty God is always near the family which is Catholic in Faith and in deed. Many may inflict hardship and pain, but Almighty God tempers them with the sweet consolation of His nearness. To remain truly Catholic. in the meaning of the Church, requires much earnest prayer. You can pray with your lips, in your heart, or with your mind, and when these tire, you can let your good deeds be your prayer. ,With much earnest prayer the Catholic Family, father, mother, children, look forward, not only with hope and courage, but with holy enthusiasm. Parents of the graduates may be very happy in the knowledge that their sons and daughters are well trained in the holy science of saving their souls.

Nothing Without God These things abide forever, Great loves for which men sacrifice their lives, That others may enjoy them in the years to be- A home, a flag, a shining torch, And over all the holy cross of Christ. We shall remember quiet hours of study, Books that inspired us, friends with whom we shared The fun and work of school .... Games, classes, All these pass swiftly in the days That open with the Mass and close with prayer. We shall remember always Sisters teaching us Here at St. Andrew's in a school Once consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Christ. We are Americans and citizens of a democracy Fighting for freedom, peace, and Christ. We are Americans who love The colors flying over land and sea. O proud flag blowing in the wind, Above our lives we hold you dear, Knowing the golden stars upon our service flag. Home is each family's kingdom Where love and understanding Make a realm of domestic bliss. We shall remember always the peaceful rooms of home, For well we know that where Our Lord is Master, The Christian home is temple Wherein peace dwells forevermore. The holiest gift of God is ours, Who guard a tabernacle in a sea of peace Beneath the beacon of a sanctuary lamp. The church is very quiet Where we can come to spend An hour alone with God. His love is ours, Binding us to Him like a chain of gold. These things abide forever- A shining torch, a flag, a homey And we shall find them in eternity Safe in the Heart of God. --CLASS OF 1945 Page Seven
