Page Four To Alumni Serving God and Country ,, L .. 1-. .. 4 r OUR SCHOOL'S SERVICE FLAG I see no stars upon this service tlagg But I see boys, eager, full ot lite, Who once were here, who walked these halls, Who used these desks, these books, Who sang these songs that we sing now. I can see boys marching across a football field, Tired but triumphant, Bring honor to our school, Honor to St. Andrew's. I see no stars upon this service flag, But men, no longer boys, Marching across a different field, A field of Weary, bloody battle. Where are they now, the young Americans Who knelt but yesterday in this same pew A And at the altar rail received their King? I see St. AndreW's narne At Pearl Harbor, Wake, and Sicily, I see her sons in the skies, Upon the sea, Fighting to bring peace to our country. Dear God, oh, Watch these stars, And bring Your sons back safely to our shores, Oh, let there be no more Gold stars among the blue. -Class of 1945

Page Six The Very Reverend Timothy Kroboth Pastor's Message y 'l'he Family Faces Forwardl' What an appropriate theme for this 1945 Year Book! The Family. that is everybody, father, mother, children, look for- ward With apprehension. The war is nearly over, but the Peace-will it bring prosperity or adversity? That means a great deal to father and mother. The children look forward with anxiety. The War is nearly over, yes, but not the fighting or the post-war occupation of foreign lands. The future may bring to the graduates a long absence from family and home. The Catholic Family, may look forward with apprehension and anxiety, but not without comfort. Almighty God is always near the family which is Catholic in Faith and in deed. Many may inflict hardship and pain, but Almighty God tempers them with the sweet consolation of His nearness. To remain truly Catholic. in the meaning of the Church, requires much earnest prayer. You can pray with your lips, in your heart, or with your mind, and when these tire, you can let your good deeds be your prayer. ,With much earnest prayer the Catholic Family, father, mother, children, look forward, not only with hope and courage, but with holy enthusiasm. Parents of the graduates may be very happy in the knowledge that their sons and daughters are well trained in the holy science of saving their souls.
