-e,,lW'--.- J' - The mission of themOPERATIONS DEPARTMENT is to collect, evaluate, amplify and disseminate combat and oper- ational information which is required for the assigned tasks of the ship, and to provide intelligence, meteorological, photo- graphic, electronic warfare and seamanship services. OC DIVISION - is responsible for providulg and maintain- ing.-reliahle, rapid and secure exteriortcommunications to serve command and-control functions. This includes the vital sending, receiving andnprocessing of message traffic, Radio- man and Signalman accomplish this massive job24 hours a day, seven days a week. During deployment, they operate a floating f,Navy communications station in support of the SPRUANCE? many missions. FIRST DIVISION - deck division is responsible for fur- nishing the ship with highly trained personnel in the perfor- mance of safe marlinsplke seamanshipg in fueling and replen- ishment at sea, and in operation and maintenance of shipk boats, ground tackle, and care and preservation ofthe ship? exterior. Bos'n Mates is the obvious answer to the question what makes SPRUANCE's Deck Division so special? Tha oldest and proudest rate in the Navy, the boatswain's mates, like the SPRUANCE are the first and the finest? OI DIVISION - the main body of OI DIVISION is the Combat Information Center ICICI where areas such as Detec. tion and Tracking, Surface and Air Plot, and Display and Decision, collect and disseminate data from various sources to maintain the shop 's tactical picture. OZ DIVISION . . The WIZARD's of OZ are the new boys on the SPRUANCE.
