Ann inner For tsT education Of The 1986 Annual TICK ft BEAT OCT. 1986 MEWS INA1I AT SIIS Tests to grade, papers to mark, detention hall duty, wash blackboard, write class assignments, decorate bulletin board, and still stay intact. . . such is the life of a Teacher. Meet some of these brave people on pages 4-14. Although it is just the beginning for these students, they've already accomplished many things: Beauty pageants, plays, musicals, races, even report cards. Our hat goes off to the Elementary Classes at Springville. You will find these young achievers on pages 16-32. Pep rallies, ball games, parties, dances, dates, banquets . . Where does homework fit in? Somehow the High School Classes at SHS find a way to fit all things into their schedule. See their faces on pages 36 46. Springville has not only excelled academically, but also athletically. SHS Sports have proven that no matter how big the school, or how small the team, true pride and spirit shine through. See our victorious teams on pages 48-68. Being involved is the most stressed point at SHS. Besides having a student government. Beta Club, and S Club, students are offered a variety of Organizations to be a part of. See the list on pages 72-86. Springville High School has many different Activitie and events during the school year. The students take pride in all of these functions. Turn to pages 88-102 see the fun. Is it the end? Or just a new beginning? Seniors of 198t are wondering about those two questions and many more. Will things change? Change is certain, but the outcome of that change is yet to be known. See their senior memories on pages 104-128. We all know that behind every good thing is $ mone $. A special thanks is given to the Advertisers for thei support of our good thing , the 1986 annual; witho their contributions the yearbook could not have beer made. Any important numbers or addresses that one may need to know can be found on pages 130-142 Dedication is something that all faculty and students SHS have. However, as a tradition, the annual staff likes to award someone for their outstanding pride ai dedication to the school. The 1986 yearbook is dedicated to Mrs. Cynthia Lesley. You can see Mrs Lesley, past and present, on page 1. 1986 ANNUAL STAFF Sponsor: Editor: Faculty: Elementary: High School: Sports: Organizations: Activities: Advertisements: Photographer: Nancy Tucker Lesley Wilson Susan Layfield Shannon Frost Carlina Roberts Julie Wallace Tony Lesley Tim Pollard Rena Shiver Sharon Rhodes Laura Mardis Donna Rayburn Amy Roulain NATIONAL 65' ENQUIRER April 29,1966 30586-2 LARGEST CIRCULATION OF ANY PAPER IN AMERICA The children of S'ville are being picked up off the streets. The elementary school has been in- volved in many activities. Each grade had three parties this year; Christmas, Valentines, and Easter. Other activities that the elementary school was involved in was the Harvest Moon pageant, the Fall Festival, Derby races, the crowning of the May Day queen, and the sixth grade graduation. The fifth and sixth graders are also involved in a new club called the, “Say No Club . This is a club that teaches the students that it is alright to say no , to drugs and alcohol. Each of the classes went on a field trip. The kindergarten went to the Birmingham Public Library. First graders enjoyed a visit to the Discovery Place. The second grade explored the De Soto Caverns. The third grade visited Tannehill, during the Christmas Festivities. Fourth graders toured Moundville. Fifth graders enjoyed going to the Huntsville Space Center. Sixth Graders visited capitol in Montgomery. Carlina Roberts and Shannon Frost, Elementary Classes 15 TRISH HEATH BUCKNER WIN 1985-86 FALL FESTIVAL. MELISSA TAYLOR WINS 1985 MAY DAY QUEEN.
