THE 1978 TIGER Springville High School Editors Debby Everett and Tammy Parsons Senior Class 1977-1978 SENIOR CLASS FAVORITES DAR GOOD CITIZEN Freida Brasfield and Richard Holland Tammy Parsons PRESIDENT Wanda Atkinson VICE PRESIDENT Randy Beasley SECRETARY Debby Everett HISTORIAN Freida Brasfield 2 3 ANNUAL STAFF 4 The Annual Staff of 1978 dedicates this yearbook to Mark Martin. It is with much love, admiration, and devo- tion we publically make this dedication; in appreciation for his outstanding courage, and the example he sets for others to follow. Cod bless you Mark, you exemplify the pride of Springville High School. Thank God for the man who is cheerful In spite of life's troubles, I say; Who sings of a bright tomorrow, Because of the clouds of today. His life is a beautiful sermon, And this is the lesson to me— Meet trials with smiles and they vanish; Face cares with a song and they flee. 6 ACTIVITIES Tammy Parsons Terri ]ones TOP SENIOR BEAUTY-Lisa Leopard Teresa (ones CLASS BEAUTIES FRESHMAN BEAUTY-Gina Phillips 10 JUNIOR BEAUTY-Janice Tucker SOPHOMORE BEAUTY-Judy Tucker CLASS FAVORITES Junior Class Favorites: Janice Tucker and Johnny Simmons Sophomore Class Favorites: Joni Baker and Lavaughn Butts Eighth Grade Favorites: Kim Wise and Vince Wanniger Seventh Grade Favorites: Tina Butler and Mike Root Freshman Class Favorites: Angie Smith and Birdie Baker This year the Springville Band had a very successful season culminating with excellent appearances in Gadsden at the Mid-South Marching Band Festival and in Birmingham at the State Fair Marching Band Festival. Leading the band through the football games and the contests was Drum Major Ricky Buckner who rated superior and ex- cellent in the respective festivals. Other people contributing to the hard work were the captains of the auxiliary units, Nancy Rowe (flag captain) and Kay Luke (rifle captain). Without the leadership of the Band Officers, organizing some of the band activities would be a difficult job. This year the officers have been a major standout with Captain—Mitch Wallace, Co-Captain—janice Tucker, Secre- tary-Treasurer-Harold Riker, and Librarian, Karen Lucas. Next year the band will be looking forward to bigger and better opportunities with an in- crease in experience being a major factor in its improvements. Sometimes our faculty wonders if any work really takes place! Oh! Well, we do occasionally find time for math, reading, p.e. and all those electives we take. These photos show us at play. Sometimes we play peaceful then other times we don't. We spend a great deal of time standing in lines, lines for lunch, lines to register, lines at breaktime, lines to get supplies, lines for banquets. All in a day at SHS. 109 TERESA JONES MISS BLOUNT COUNTY Teresa will represent Blount County in the Miss Alabama Pageant.
