Unfortunately the shlp developed englne trouble and we were forced to anchor off the coast of Borneo The WlldlOOlClI'1g tr1be whxch greeted us almost frlghtened us to death untll we reallzed that they were all red heads led by Pmky Morgan. They Pat Burley Gordon Mlller Robert Wood and Angle Copley were rehearstng for a Broadway show entitled Pmky s Pagans and had had to go there to f1nd peace and qu1et They gladly took tlme to take us lnto the 1n tertor where we watched two of our famous game hunters Bob Iacobs and Blll Apltz st1ll trymg to shoot somethmg Smce we had lost several days 1n Borneo the captam decrded to ornrt our stop at Calcutta where we had hoped to attend a Soap Box Derby sponsored by Fred Derks As our shtp entered the Suez Canal the cus stopped us for a few hours because epa1rs were be1ng made on the lock Among the many work men lean1ng on shovels were Warren Davldson and Bob Davxs After many delays we were frnal ly on our way to Carro We tr1ed but unsucess fully to VISII a harem We d1d hear 1t rumored that Ieanxue Bohrer was employed there as a haxr styllst We were allowed to v1s1t Ralph Menden hall excavatlng a tomb Two of hrs helpers were Kathryn Bond and lean Mlller It was only a short hop from Egypt to Italy Many of my former classmates have settled there Conrue Mondello spends her days eatlng spaghetn w1th Ruth Kovacs Runnrng a reducmg salon for spaghettr eaters are Dolores Lollar Dons Welmer and Iudy Scott Tlred of travelrng by shlp I went to the Rome atrport to charter a plane for a tr1p to Parls and Hamburg The only prlot avatlable was Herb Steet I dectded to take a chance srnce hrs host esses were Veda Fortney and Barbara Stamey To prck up the latest fash1ons I stopped ln several shops rn Parts Clothes for a cru1se were modeled by Betty Lrpscomb and Iohnn Waldrop When I sought evenmg clothes I found Nona Lxvlngston and Roberta Ray Through a record shop wlndow I Spled Manon Meredith Ellen Theodore and Ianet Pnce Papers on the corner newstand proclarmed that Helen Ruffener had swum the Enghsh Channel after e1ghteen at temps and Kenny Collmg had f1nally succeeded 1n perfectlng wlreless telev1s1on S1ng1ng 1n a Par1s Cafe where I stopped for refreshments after my shopp1ng spree were our favorrte smgers Mary lane M1ha'y Dorothy Welss and Donna Ott The next evenmg at a concert I heard IoAnn Slevln accompan1ed by Nancy Webb They were recexved well by the audrence whlch 1ncluded Betty Spxdle Cathleen Robmson and Vrrguua dorng rn Pans but I found that Pat Parsons was the edltor of the Parls Gazette We stopped on our round about way to London to VISII our frrend Hans who has a model farm near I-Iamburg Germany HIS ch1ldrens gover ness was Dolores Large In London we were shown around by Sxr Walter Fncke By th1s ttme I was so homes1ck for my old home town that I hurned back to the shrp wh1ch was headed for New York At Grand Central as I boarded the tra1n I met Nadme Austm. Loudme Clark. and Ioyce Mathxs return 1ng for a v1s1t to thelr Alma Mater Arrrvrng back at good old S H S I saw attend 1ng a football game Iune Hxggmbotham and Carolyn Manhart Perhaps they ll help me plan a reun1on for the class of Sl 1n the near future Spznt of Sl The annual staff expresses apprec1at1on to Tome1 Stud1o for 1ts representattve who so graclously attended many socxal events of the year and made numerous VISIIS to the school 1n order that we m1ght have th1s p1ctor1al record of our school year A I , I I L 1 I 1 toms inspectors, Iim Leiser and Iacob Schmidt, Putnam.
