LOIS B111 and Joe form the bond between the adm1n1strat1on the faculty and us the busy buzzlng students of SHS At then' consent many of the proposals from Boys or Glrls Councll are referred to the Executlve Board wh1ch under the super v1s1on of Mr Fox suggests and carrles out the rules and pol1c1es of our school Mr Fox as pr1nc1pal heads the school but as 1n every organlzatlon he has hlS asslstant who help h1m keep the school operatlng smoothly H1s rlght hand man IS Mr Warfel our ass1stant pr1nc1pal H1s dutles are varled but among the more maddenlng lS that of makmg the schedules for the seventeen hundred students to the satlsfactlon of all Then M1ss Ma1 t1n together wlth her ass1s tant Mrs Kaufman lessens the worr1es of Mr Fox by keeplng the Off1Ce runmng efflclently When no one knows the ans wer Ask Mlss Martxn IS the lnevltable advlce and she usually has the answer For the personal 1nd1v1dual problems of students there are three deans whose counsel 1S g1ven 1n a most s1ncere way For the g1rls Mlss Hume always has words of gu1dance and adV1Ce to help them 1n th 1r troubles Mr Young takes under h1s w1ng the Junlor and senlor boys Whlle Mr Sanders offers to the sophomore boys h1S help Durmg the perlod of 100 years there have been countless lmprovements both 1n th school bu1ld1ngs and 1n the currxculum From one class 1n home economlcs we now offer classes 1n homemaklng foods clothlng and home nurslng For the boys too courses have been added 1n sheet metal wood shop machlne shop pattern makmg and draftlng Th 3 Rs have gone through a change too The flrst one Readln has ex panded to College General or Commer c1al Enghsh and the Rlthmatlc 1S now shop or bus1ness math geometry algebra or trlg Rltln can now be done 1n numer ous languages French Spanlsh German or Latln 1ts up to the student The thlngs labeled by our forefathers as frllls subjects such as gym art muslc are now regular credlt earmng courses Wlth th1s much of a change 1n the last centurv w1ll not another Century of Progress present g1rls 1n the shop or boys 1n the home economlcs department?
