Bookends :l'hay, Iet's forget about the game. ls this Ballet of Soccer? This being Springfield High School's first year of soccer competition on the high school level, we had a very good season. The team had a record of 6-1 -0. For the soccer sectional, our team was ranked eighth out of seventeen teams. In our first game of the sectional against East St. Louis Assump- tion, we maintained control of the ball for sev- enty-five percent of the game. We had plenty of opportunities to score, but were unsuccessful. Assumption scored two uncanny goals to win the game. Next year with more and better teams sched- uled, our experience should carry us well into the sectional. Soccer 149
