Key Club The Key Club is a young men's service club for the community and the school. During October, the Key Club helped with a haunted house for the March of Dimes. Other events the club par- ticipated in were co-sponsoring a Road Rally with Anchor Club, a Dating Game, and playing intermural basketball with the Key Club of Richland Northeast High School. The club also planned on setting up a booth for the Lung Association at Columbia Mall for Non-Smokers Day, and sponsored a bike race and an Almost Anything Goes Competition. Z Club The newly organized Z club at Spring Valley did much to pro- mote school and community ac- tivities this year. To start the year off, a cookout was held for the members of the Key Club and Z-Club. Throughout the year fund-raising activities such as the candycane sale before Christmas break were held to raise money for club functions. A portion of the money raised was used to sponsor a shopping spree and lunch at Columbia Mall for senior citizens of the Columbia area. The Z-Club came up with many original ideas in the aspects of club functions this year and helped to set a tradition of excel- lence to be carried forth into Spring Valley’s second decade. 30
