S S 3 L M .NX DIBECTUB Facult As we enter the dimly-lit rehearsal hall, all attention is focused on a greying man standing in the center of a group. His posture is tense. his hands are moving descriptively. and his face is alive with expression. He is 'cribing to the people around him a mood lillll he wants to dominate a certain scene. When he is finished instructing them. they resume their places in the action and proceed again, this time with more success. Although he never appears on the stage, the director plays the most important role in the performance. A central figure, it is he who molds and guides the actors into a successful production. All in all, a tough joh is involved here., for accurately viewing every aspect of a play is no mean chore. Witli gratitude, we salute these xnen for their guidance and knowledge. 8
