f X K Xml bd' tv s W XNXIXXX 16 XZ 2 X I Z AT f' fzgigf ree the Class of 1959 started to Kindergarten, with, oddly enough, M9 students This was an unusually good start for the 49er's tree and the roots which star ted this tree and never changed their course through 15 years are Geraldine Arthur, Velma and Vera Baker, Petty Ellis, Margery L a Frost, Lola Lusher, Eunice Morgan, Barbara Olson, Mary Jean Sylvester, Mary Waechter, Doris Billard, Glen stanton, Bob Waugh, and Bill Norman A few others that started wltr this class in 1956, are alsv graduating with them, but they have deserted them for a time during the course Our tree began its Kindergarten growth under the loving and capable aid of Piss Vary hisholm Our first branch sprouted with the aswlst nce of Visa Dev and Miss uran Charles Heick and Parl iller had the honor of being the very first newcomers our tree ever had The second branch was divided under the direction of Visa :need and Miss Roberts Janet McCormick and Mary lean Cyle Joined our growth during this year and Visa Henderson engln erlng its spread Three addl tional twigs :ere Evelyn atantor, Phyllis Pollock, and Bob werkhoven Miss Drake and Miss Patterson guided ua through our fourth year, during which Ed Swanson, Irel Bruns, Susie Winther, and Mary lou Hummel strengthened our branch In the fifth grade, our branch was divided for the last time Bruce Cheney, Alvin Putman, and Mara lynn Carlson were newcomers, while Miss Hostetter and Miss Drake carefully kept our bough straight. Charles Heick was captain of the football team, with his classnatea berlin Heldt,Bruce Cheney, Bernard Cohrs, Mel Froendt,Varvin Jones, Bob Morgan, and Irel Bruns playing on first squad under him Merlin Heidt engineered the basketball team with Bill borman,Bob waugh,Bob herkhoven Irel Bruns, Bruce Cheney, and Dick Tho lke playing first string with him, while Mel Froendt headed the track t am with the seniors Merlin Heidt, Bill Norman, Therles H ick, Bernard Cohrs, Marvin Jones, Irel Bruns, Alvin Putman, Bob Aorgan and Bob laugh working with him Chuck Heick made all conference football rating again and mem bers of our class had swell luck in music contest senior cheerleaders were Mary Jean Sylvester, waechter, and our newest member, Beverly Duke mencement, Skip Jay,Baccalaureate, Senior Week, the and Class Day have put s period on our Spirit The Vary Oom- Prom Lake schooling, and it is with no little sadness that we depart Now we, the Class of '49 bid Consolidated school It is with that we take our place as Alumni sincere hope that we may live up farewell to Spirit Lake of pride with the the high a great deal of Spirit Lake to, and add to reputation that hes been established fff Qbii gag? gix 67 f 72?
