Faculty Encourages Scholarship HOW ARD BROOKS M A Oklahoma State Unrversxty High School Principal YOUR SCHOOL LIFE Your school life has been the developments oi' skills, aptitudes, vocational work, and other phases of school work. More important than these are the attitudes that you have developed. This high school has tried to stimulate you to better thinking, reasoning, and self reliance. If this has been done to a good degree, then I am happy with the result. Anyone can teach subject matter, or leam it, but the faculty has attempted to go beyond that to you, the students of this school. Your response has been gratifying. All of you will not be great leaders, nor is that needed. Some of you will lead your fellow citizens to success. Some of you need to be good followers and yet be able to think for yourselves. If we, your teachers, have developed these abilities to a greater extent then we are happy Howard Brooks High School Principal E VIRGINIA BUTLER B S , Nonheastern State College Home Economics Sophomore Sponsor HUGH HARDII: B S , Oklahoma State University Vocational Agriculture FFA Sponsor Sophomore Sponsor MRS MARY NEASBITT M C E Oklahoma University Commerce Senior High Girls Advtser Senior Sponsor ALFRED RUST B S , Northeastern State College Industrtal Arts Athletics Senior Sponsor MRS ETTA SIMERLY B S , East Central State College Commerce Q new Yearbook Adviser Mimeographing School Paper Junior Sponsor MRS FLORENCE VAUGHN M A , University of Tulsa Sr High English Sr High News Junior Sponsor Sr High Library 110,

And Improves Educational Opportunities For Students It is nice to be associated with a student body and faculty that have representatives who can produce such a fine yearbook. I wish to extend congratulations to the staff and sponsor. Our yearbooks seem to get better each succeeding year, and I am sure the 1957-58 Pirate is no exception. I know the student body and faculty will relive many happy events of 1957-58 Pirate. Just as we improve our annual each year, efforts have been made to improve the facilities and to build strong educational departments in grades one to twelve. Many departments in the Sperry Schools are second to none in Oklahoma. School pride, school spirit, and school life are made by the young men and women of the school community. My confidence and my hopes are in you, the students of the Sperry Public Schools. Orville 1. Prier, Superintendent of Schools QQ Mrs. Marybelle Hardie, secretary to Superintendent Prier and bookkeeper for the school cafeteria is very efficient and alert. She is always gracious and tolerant when asked to help a stu- dent in need. -9...
