We come wondering what each school year will bring. We come wondering what, changes and additions will be made. This year among the changes a notable addition was made. On August 1, 1976 Donald Mitchell Stewart com- menced his duties as the sixth president of Spelman College. He is married to the former Isabel Carter Johnston, and has two sons, J ay age 9 and Carter age 7. Dr. Stewart comes to us with an impressive background of educational experiences. Dr. Stewart received his bachelors degree in Political Science from Grinell College, his Masters degree from Yale with post graduate work in Switzerlandk Graduate School of International Studies, and received his Doetrate degree from Harvard. Dr. Stewart feels that he brings a set of experiences that can be used to the best interests of Spelman and that will add supportive dimensions to our institution. Prior to coming to Spelman, he held the position of Executive Assistant to the President, Professor of the City Planning Department and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania Where he served for 6 years. He is concerned with the future of Spelman and feels that Spelman should fulfill the needs of those wanting continued educational enrichment and seeking to better understand the role of Black women. The Reflections staff on behalf of the Spelman family wishes to extend an optomistic and warm welcome to our own Dr. Donald M. Stewart.
