Development of the mind and personality coupled with the development of onejs spiritual resource occupy top priority. In a sense, all work here has been directed not to an end but to a beginning. Indeed, the four years spent hereaassimi- lating and formulatinghwere only the backdmp against which the real drama of our lives is now to be played. In reality, we finish only to begin. The years spent here are like clay which may be molded according to our desires. The finished product is ours to Choose. We are the creators. Properly speaking then, our college days may terminate but our search for knowledge, truth, and beauty will con- tinue as long as life lasts. va-n' - DEDICATION FEATURES and HONORS COLLEGE. FACULTY CLASSES CLUBS and ORGANIZATIONS PATRONS and ADVERTISEMENTS Dedication We, the Staff of the 1964 Reflections and the Senior Class of 1964, proudly dedicate this edition of the year- book to our parents. Throughout the years of our formal educational experience you have been to us sources of in- spiration, guidance, counseling, understanding and love. Your job has been a tedious one indeed. We know that this small gesture can in no way repay you for the many trials and sacrifices you have made in furthering our eduction. Thus, as we go forth in the world we plan to go as the symbols of all for which you have labored. In this manner, we hope to continue to express our never ending appreciation for your untiring efforts and devotions. The Pres dent and First Lady of Spelman: Dr. and Mrs. Albert E. Manley. Some are gay, frolicking happy moments, some somber, lach- rymose, even apprehensive of we know not what. Some memories are even of tragedies. The class of 1964 pauses to remember one of her departed sisters, Artie Camille Allen of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Snatched from life in an untimely accident, Artie was a vital part of our total being. To us, she represented the very personification of the ultimate in happiness. Her friendliness and cheerful disposition will long be remembered by those of us who were privileged to know her. The alacritous Artie, a potential student of dramatics, lives on in each of us. Therefore, we, the class of 1964, pay tribute to one who though physically separated from us is never really more than a thought away. 78 .l I I . ? - ML: IQJJ:11.; Left 10 right: Barbara Henry Prcx-idcnt.
