Acadian Village, Lafayette The Cajun style of architecture varies greatly. There are traditional columned homes that may be anywhere from one-roomed cabins to 40-room plantation homes and man- sions. Most have porches - usually with swings and porch furniture for spending lazy afternoons. Modern Southern- ers, like those of the past, have a love of the land - some used for farming, some for cattle, some just for the beauty of the large oaks and cypress trees that grow so profusely in the humid Louisiana swamplands.
