DEDICATION Through sixty years of progress, three wars, and three genera- tions Southwestern Louisiana Institute emerges with its face to the future. A new picture shapes itself within the structure of the Institute, as it assumes a new rank and a new name, The University of Southwestern Louisiana. With increased enrollments, expanded curricula, a growing physical plant and added responsibilities. Southwestern moves to meet the challenge which a new rank invites. If the past is the key to the future, this renamed Institution will continue to expand the minds of in(|uiring youth and give new meaning to the disciplines of higher learning. With high hopes for the future of GUI ' distinguished Institution, now entering its sixty-first year, we, the students, respectfully dedicate this 1961 L ' Acadien to The Uiiiversitv of Southwestern Lou isiana.
