Mario Santrizo Basketball Using a six-man team most of the season, Coach Bill Adam tinished with a comparatively successful record. Traveling to Albert Lea in the opener, the Indians were downed in a well played game 49-41. Other pre-season games found the purple and white five at Blake and Owatonna, winning both. Opening its conference play, the Indians dropped the first four games to North 40-38, to Washburn 33-27, to City Champions Vocational 34-27, and to Central 62-58 in an overtime game. West found the Indians a little tougher and were scalped 54-35. In a double overtime game Edison topped the Adam boys 46-44 in a real heartbreaker. The next week the team let dov ii and lost to Marshall 49-36, but bounced back and trounced Roosevelt in one of the best games 53-40. South and Henry both fell to the Indians in the last two contests by 39-36 and 38-37. After downing West 49-36 in the sub- district play-off, the six stalwarts were defeated in district 17 play-ofi by Vocational. Prospects for next year look bright with two lettermen, Clint Andrus and Connie Hammer, returning with a good crop of luniors.
