Educator . . . Friend On May 22, 1949, we of Southwest High School were immeasurably saddened by the death of one of our most beloved friends. During his seven years at Southwest, every- one loved and respected Mr. Peterson. As vice-principal, his guidanceand his kindly understanding of the students and their problems led to many a satisfactory solution and developed a spirit of good- will and co-operation. The memory of his inspiring leadership of the class of 1949 will forever linger in the hearts of its members. Throughout our high school life he was our leader, our guide, and our ever loyal friend. His faith in us was boundless, our devo- tion to him, ardent. His absence will leave an emptiness in the lives of both students and faculty. To this fine man and wise teacher, as a small expression of our respect and admira- tion, we humbly dedicate this book.
