Seated in the new Administration Board room are the following members, L to R. Mr A V Thurman M S F. Cernosek, Mr. I. W. Watts, Jr., Mr. R. C. Aldridge, Jr Mr Floyd Jackel Mr Henry Krueger, Ir Mr Edwin W. Ripps, and Mr. Nick Constanzo. Richard Aldridge. -President John W. Watts Jr. -V. President Floyd Iackel-Sec. Treas. Southwest Independent School District is ranked among the most outstanding school systems in the district, chiefly because of the unselfish dedication of our Board of Trustees. Its members bear the great responsibility of maintaining a modern school system and an up to date curriculum. Each member, elected by the citizens of this area, works with such specific problems as home and school relations, the selection of building projects and locations, and accel- erated study programs. The Board also guides the various schools in our district so far as school policy is concerned. We are fortunate to have this devoted group of men interested in our school and its welfare.

s E s as SUPERINTENDENT OF SOUTHWEST INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT, MR. STANLEY F. CERNOSEK Everyone connected with the Southwest Indepen- dent School District has b e c o m e acquainted with Mr. Cernosek, our Superintendent, who has served many years as executive officer of the Board of Edu- cation, governing our school system. He has long been noted for his progressive ideas of educational methods. During his administration, the Southwest D is t ri c t has initiated and pursued a building and enlargement program on three campuses, comprising our school d i st r i c t with an enrollment approximating 2, 500 students. Our status as a school system has increased both inside the district and in the state. But, his work does not end with past accomplish- ments. Daily, Mr. Cernosek receives new tech- niques of teaching, seeking the best possible educa- tional opportunities for the children of Southwest. Because of this goal, and its successful execution, Southwest has a system of which we are proud.

ASSISTANT S UPERINTENDENT, MR. CLAYTON C. NORRIS Mr. Clayton C. Norris, a capable leader effi- ciently serving the Southwest Independent School District as Assistant Superintendent, d oes not even remotely begin to describe the value of the contri- butions and services rendered by Mr. Norris. Receiving his formal education from Texas A. 85 I. University, Mr.'Norris has served Southwest for two years, working closely with the personnel of the school district and handling the many details involved in administering the curriculum and other programs in the educational field. His ye ars of experience and knowledge in ad- ministrative work in sp i re s confidence in all who know him and work under his leadership.
