JUNIOR VARSITY FOOTBALL
The Junior Varsity football squad has shown a great deal in
the way of determination and ability.
The linemen made one of the most promising components
of the team which was heightened by the backfielders' good pass-
ing abilities.
The Little Hornets, which were coached by the very capable
Leonard Wozniak, will furnish future Southside football with
some very good material.

"Where did you come from?"
VARSITY FOOTBALL
One of the greatest assets of the 1957 Green Hornets
squad was its fighting spirit and determination to do the
very best it could.
Two boys-Pete Bambury and Ben Dixon-returned
after previous experience in Varsity ball. Some boys from the
J. V. ranks that showed promise were moved up to Varsity.
The team improved a great deal despite the odds with which
they were confronted.
The fighting spirit of our boys can be best exemplified
by the fact that none of them was ever knocked out of play,
while players from the opposing teams were taken out.
Our squad was never out-fought-although sometimes
outscored.

VARSITY BASKETBALL
The Southside Varsity Basketball squad has shown a great
deal of ability when it encountered the stiffest opposition in several
years. Even though many of our opponents have had a decided
height advantage, our boys have gained their share of control of
the ball.
A sense of team spirit and a fighting desire to win, not un-
common to Southside's, athletes, have never left this group. As a
result of this, some of our losses have been only by one or two
points. This is a sure indication that our boys have played well even
in the very last seconds of the game. A few extra 'breaks' would
have meant a great deal in several of these events.
Taking everything into consideration, this year's team has done a
most commendable job.
