Attucks waited.
Southport got its wish.
Quite 'up' for the contest the Car-
dinals breezed in front of the Tigers
early in the first quarter. Southport
accumulated an 11 point lead and led
23-11 at the conclusion of the opening
period.
The second period, however, be-
longed to Attucks. The Tigers cracked
the boards and an outstanding shoot-
ing display by Sam Ward in the At-
tucks backcourt loulled the Tigers to
a seven-point advantage over the fal-
teringSouthportites.
Southport never led again until 0:12
remained in the meeting. With South-
port ahead 74-73 Attucks' mini-guard
Ward hit a free throw to knot the
score. Wards second free toss hit the
iron and fell into the hands of Krivacs.
Time ran out thus sending the game
into overtime.
The overtime left little to be desired
for the Cardinals. Attucks ripped off
13 points in the three minute span
while Southport could get only four.
lt was difficult to realize that the
season was over. Southport was out of
the tournament.
Eliminated.
