Another new feature at Southport High is the Biology Museum. All in- terested students are welcome to visit the museum. Eve y lace One of our most discussed "new looks" was the swimming pool. Four classes of boys and two of girls swim each day, as well as both boys' and girls' intramural teams. A swim- ming team of boys was organizedg and the Dolphinettes, representing the girls, held a show in the spring.

Each year a hearing test, given by the Marion County Board of Health, is taken by the Sophomores of this school. Mrs. Tanner, from the Board of Health, is giving the test to Alan Trinkle while Charles Tind ll e and John Stuart await their turn. The school nurse is Mrs. Rund. Learnin Changes in the sports and social world at Southport became insignificant com- pared to those which took place in scho- lastic achievements. ln l959, a total of 64 teachers led students through the mysteries of subjects ranging from Latin to trigonometry. New facilities increased available subjects to include auto shop, swimming, and advanced mechanical drawing. More stress on the harder sub- jects, especially s c i e n c e and math, brought on a streamlined tour-year math course. Students can now obtain ten credits in this subject. New equipment and more room enable the classes to explore deeper into the mysteries of science.
