TRAVELQGUE WASHINGTON D c Monday April 6 A brighT and beauTiTul day dawned AT 604 a m a group oT ThirTy six happy seniors and one oT our chaperones Mr STaiger boarded The good old Long Island RR Tor New York CrTy Upon arriving aT Pennsylvania STaTnon we were greeTed by our oTher chaperone Miss C-aTTi and a Pennsylvania railroad represenTaTive Mr DaunT AT 9 30 we boarded a special Train and were en rouTe To The NaTion s capiTal AT 2 00 p m our Train pulled mTo Union STaTion There we TransTerred To a slghTseeing bus which Took us To our TirsT sTop The UniTed STaTes Cap1Tol a mosT inTeresTung and beauTiTul building where we were accompanied by a compeTenT guide on a Tour Through The Two Houses oT Congress and STaTuary Hall A shorT walk Took us To The Supreme CourT Building Nearby was The Library oT Congress where we viewed among oTher Things The mosT beauT1Tul mosaic work in The world We Then reboarded The bus Tor The Roger SmiTh HoTel our new home Tor The nexT Three days ATTer dinner we wenT our separaTe ways Tor an evening s enTerTainmenT Tuesday April 7 BreakTasT aT 7 30 a m By 8 30 we were in our bus ready Tor an inTeresTing and insTrucTive Tour oT The ciTy oT WashingTon and :Ts environs We viewed The principal buildings parks Toreign embassies and legaTions and Tinally sTopped aT The zoo in Rock Creek Park We conTmued our Trip Through GeorgeTown crossing The PoTomac River inTo Tomb of The Unknown Soldier where we saw The changing oT The guard and The Memorial Am phiTheaTer We also saw The home oT RoberT E Lee We conTinued To Alexandria and sTopped aT The Old Club Teahouse Tor a luncheon Then we sTopped aT ChrisT Church and laTer wenT on a Tour oT The ciTy viewing The many memorable buildings We proceded To MounT Vernon where we visiTed The home oT George WashingTon a beauTiTul place indeed' ReTurnmg via The NaTional Highway on The banks oT The PoTomac River we sTopped aT The NaTional AirporT and The JeTTerson and Lincoln Memorials before geT Ting back To our hoTeI ThaT evening some aTTended perTormances oT Oklahoma and Our Town oThers wenT To Glenn Echo AmusemenT Park We had an enloyable Time excepT Tor The TacT ThaT we had To walk beTween The raindrops Wednesday April 8 We awoke To a brighT and beauTiTul morning wiTh everyone in hugh spiriTs BreakTasT was served aT The usual Time and again we climbed aboard our bus which Took us To The Bureau oT PrinT1ng and Engraving where we were escorTed by a Trained guide who explained The many prrnTing operahons Our bus nexT Took us To The WashingTon MonumenT a beauTiTul ediTice erecTed in memory oT our T1rsT presidenT Many oT us had The experience oT walking up The 849 sTeps To The pinnacle Trom which we could view The ciTy We Then walked To The Pan American Building wiTh :Ts beauTiTuI LaTin American paTuo compleTe wlTh anc1enT parroTs and lovely shrubbery UnTorTunaTely we were unable To vnsiT The WhiTe House , . .
