The 8th grade track team was very successful this spring. ln dual meet competition the boys were defeated only by Tuttle. The competition in the E. Tipp Relays created a valuable learning experience for all boys participating. The 7th grade track team has great potential and is expected to contribute heavily to future Mountie teams. If the boys continue to Work as hard as they have this spring there could possibly be some state contenders from this group. Coach Lowell Anderson. STANDING L to R Tom Mildenberg, Dave Miller, Norman Feltner, John Wilson, Don Mills, Robbin Sheets, Gene Say- ler, Dan Froedge, Dave Paddack, john Dellinger, Kenny Morris, john Peffley, Mike Burkhardt, Pat Clahan, Coach Ron Hess. The varsity track team had a very successful season. Highlights of the season were, a four point victory over North Montgomery and very respectable showing in the Charger Relays, Delphi Relays, Frankfort Relays. Southmont hosted the second annual Mountie Games and gained valuable experience against such teams as Gary West, Bloomington South, and Evansville Harrison. Several outstanding performances were turned in by record holder Don Mills in the shotput. Freshman Track E, J SEATED L to R Scott Martin, Dave Dellinger, Andy Bullock, Keith Rhoads, Randy Braze, Gary Gentry, Rick Martin. KNEELING L to R Sam Biddle, Mark Rush, Bob Miller, Gary Scott, Greg Baumer, jim Kindel. STANDING L to R Gary Cope, Rick Hedge, Coach Fred Avant, Brian Gilliland, Chuck Routh, Tom Yater. The Freshman Track Team lacked depth this year with only 13 members on the squad. Yet 13 turned out to be a lucky number, as the squad started the season rolling by winning every event in the Tuttle meet but two. R+ 0 .,.,,, C-O-N-C-E-N-T-R-A-T-I-O-N!

Mighty Dan hurles another strike. John Maynor follows through with his pitch. Big jim awaits the pitch. I knew I could keep him from stealing second. The 1973 varsity baseball team ended its season with a 19-8 record. They also tied for first in the Wabash River Conference race with North Montgomery.
