The spring sports teams of 1959 are excellent examples of fine team spirit that Southfield teams have always shown. The baseball and golf teams each tied for first place in their leagues. The tennis team also brought glory to Southfield when it won nine matches while losing only three. Although the track team cannot boast of as fine a record as the other three spring sports teams, it still afforded many wonderful memories to those who participated. LATHRUP VILLAGE, MICH PLUM HOLLOW SERVICE EI-Qin 6-0200 Life starts with the knowing hand of the doc- tor, slapping baby's soft pink bottom to get him started breathing. OOD HANDS ALL... Qwritten by an "old hand" in a sentimental momentl Th'en Mother's hand takes over. Now bath- ing baby with gentle care . . . now stroking a fevered brow with fervent prayer . . . now proudly patting a stray curl into place. There's Father's hand, too. A helping nand as he steadies Junior on his first two-Wheeler. An approving hand as he chucks Susie under the chin for a fine report card. And every so often, a stern hand applied in punishment. And-remember?-there was the genial po- liceman's hand, imperiously halting trafic so you could drag your reluctant feet across to school without danger. And Grandpa's big calloused hand, into which you put your trusting little hand, for the Walk to the park. And who can forget the hand of his first boss, pumping away to confirm the deal? Or the hand of the preacher after the ceremony? Or the hands that offered hearty congratulations for a Brat-born? Was one ever more thankful than for the skilled hands of the surgeon who saved a loved one's life? Or the firm hand of a friend on one's shoulder when comfort was the most needed thing in the world? Good hands, all of them. And these are the hands of Allstate . . .guarding your car, your home, your possessions against loss from countless hazards. They're strong hands, tireless hands that protect you around the clock. Hands you can depend on. Hands that over 5,000,- 000 policyholders do depend on. Hands that never let anyone down.
