At one time the whole university held classes in Dallas Hall, but today many buildings have been added to the university campus. One of the neuest of these is the completely air-conditioned Fon- dren Science building, built in 1949. Fondren Science is one of the most up-to-date buildings of its kind. Follouing the Georgian architecture of the campus, it houses classrooms, lecture rooms, laboratories, a large map library, and a herbarium. Fondren Library is accessible to all students of the university. TTie building was opened in 1940 and is completely air-condi- tioned, containing reading rooms, a reference room, a browsing room and facilities for private study and research. This general library houses, in addition to the catalogued books and pamphlets, the university collections of art and the Mary McCord Museum of the Tlieater. DALLAS HALL The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest of the seven colleges of Southern Methodist University. Tlie College of Arts and Sciences seeks to prepare students for a wide variety of intellectual pursuits and for entrance into professional and other graduate studies. It offers full programs in art, language, social sciences, education, physical sciences, and pre-profes- sional training for business administration, dentistry, engineer- ing, lav ' , medicine, and theology. Tlie advantages of high stand- ards, small classes, and close relationships between students and teachers are offered to all students, who enroll from nearly all sections of the United States.
