EDICATICD To the members of the Naval Training Unit of Southern Methodist University we dedicate this book. Though some were adopted Mustangs, they volun- tarily gained the school spirit and remained loyal to it. Burdened with many studies and responsibilities, more stringent restrictions than most of us, they man- aged to score high in both curricular and extra- curricular activities. Sailors played Varsity football and basketballg they were graduated with high hon- orsg they headed organizations. Honoraries recog- nized their abilities, the Mustang band welcomed their talentp Campus publications benefited from their services. Not only did the pea-iacketed boys accept re- sponsibility, give freely of their time and energies in almost every line of Mustang endeavor, but they also gave us color and a new sense of values. They added the salt's idea of a real buddy. To Southwest- ern friendliness, they supplied a refreshing frankness. For these things and unnamed others we are grateful. Therefore, to our brothers in blue who go now to study in the laboratories of medical schools, or to work in advanced training units or back to the fleetewe dedicate this log book in which are recorded the highlights of our year, l944. Wherever you go, Navy . . . Smooth sailing.
