As the grass begins to sprout in the spring time and its new fresh green contrasts with the yellows in Life Science and the Library, Southern takes on a renewed life. Students return from vacation with brightened faces and spirits. Florida sun has made some more tanned than before, with a tinge of sunburn perhaps. Those less fortunate note in envy saying, Next year. Other students return having lost their single status. As the weather becomes warmer students llock to Giant City and Crab Qrchard Lake for additional recreation such as swimming, boating, and water skiing. Downpours are quite frequent at Southern leaving many a student drenched as he runs to and from classes. Studies become a chore and lectures seem longer. Some instructors: however, take ad- vantage of good weather and hold their class sessions out of doors. Spring also brings a varied group of activities. During Spring Leadership Camp discussions are held by campus leaders. The greeks plan for Greek YtVeck. Nlany groups hold formal dances. But the highlight of activities is Spring Festival with Miss Southern contest, midway and vaudeville show, IJ1111'1z.g.s,l11'1'1zg mm, Soz1ff1f'n1',i jmlmfzkzf mln- jms ff'mff'r.i' mf! in 1f1'.sc'11.s,s1'm1grnnllu al S11 'fi IIFZU Lilfff' Cmiql' Lake Cff1l7IfIII.Y rf1'111'11'Q fmff. .4152-.
