THE LAUREL IN MEMORIAM N our senior year we lost one of our finest classmates in the death of Ella Tomko. Although Ella Barbara, as she liked to have us call her, was with us a comparatively short time, her memory is as vivid 'today as it was when she was among us. Gay and lighthearted was the outward impression which Ella gave, yet we, her classmates, knew her to have the courage which she dis- played during her long illness. Wfe who have known her have gained inspiration from her example of spirit and courage. To her family we humbly offer our deepest sympathy.

In considering Madeleine, have you ever thought of hygrometers, hoptoads, or goldfish? She thrives on such interests as these. If she doesn't become a famous biologist, naturalist, and scientist all in one, we'll miss our guess. MURIEL ADAMS 441 Main Street Ansonia Geography Club 1, Dramatic Club 1-3, International Relations Club 2, Education Club 3, Assembly Coni- mittee 3, Baseball 1-2-3, Natural Dancing 2, Clogging 1-2, Volleyball 2, Basketball 1-2. Never mind, Lit! They say that big things come in little packages, and we're willing to wager a thousand to one that you don't represent the exception. W'itness your ability in dramatics and the place you have won in your division as favorite oral reader. MILDRED AXELROD 53 East Pearl Street New Haven Dramatic Club 1, Glee Club 1-2-3, Science Club 2, Library Staff 2. Art Club 3, Editor-in-Chief The Laurel, Tennis 1-3, Basketball 1-2-3. Baseball 1-2-3, Social Danc- ing Sport Head 2. Do you ever wonder why The Fledcrmaus sounds so familiar? It's Milly's theme song. Take the song. add a twist of the head, and you have Axey, the spirit of rhythm. Hers is an unlimited capacity for appreciation and enjoyment of everything around her, especially art, music, people, and humor. SOPHIE BARRON 42 Fifth Street Derby Geography Club 1. Volleyball 1-2-3, Basketball 1-2-3. Natural Dancing 1-2-3, Baseball 1-2-3. Badminton 3. Play Day Chair- man 2, Prom Committee. This W. A. A. is driving me crazy. 'l'll never have time to accomplish anything. What a familiar cry, but didn't Sophie do a good job? Not only in this work did she do well, but everything she attempts is really carried out to the best of her ability, always accompanied by a bit of clever humor. And those who haven't seen her mimic have missed a hearty laugh.
