I Maintenance, Bookstore Daily Visits to Post Office and Bookstore Abolish Monotony Each day we awakened, awakened to a continuous routine. We came in contact with friends and acquaintances, who helped break that monotonous pace. Each day consisted of a quick run to the mailbox. We expected the box to have something, but we only found a notice from the business office. After fall registration, freshmen found themselves constant visitors to the bookstore. We heard them say , . . How many books is it go- ing to take. Why did I have to blow it, and take three art courses. l've spent all my money on art supplies. Without the bookstore what would we have done? Always needing something or other which the bookstore would be certain to have: textbooks. SSC every- thingsf' and all other student sup- plies. To keep us going, through the day, the cafeteria not only pro- vided us food. but acted as a meet- ing place for students to meet with friends and to get a rehash of the day's happenings. Dorm, Clinic, Library Librarians Prepare Move To New Library There are still many details to be worked out concerning the interior of the new library building. The library will be modern in concept with numerous small con- ference rooms which will allow students to work together in small groups. There will also be some in- dividual faculty studies and study carrells for students. Members of the library com- mittee, headed by Velma Adams. have spent many hours in con- ference with lack See. the interior design specialist. and with the architectual firm of Wittenberg. Delony and Davidson of Little Rock. On the bottom of the library's three levels. classrooms and work- rooms for media and library science are planned. The staff. composed of four trained librarians. one full time secretary-office manager plus numerous student assistants, will be especially busy through the 1973 year getting ready to move from the present building to the new one scheduled for opening in October, 1973. 'SWeeding of materials no longer useful. recataloging ma- terials in some special areas by the Library of Congress classification system now being used, and ob- taining more new materials and processing them, along with giving all the usual services, means a lot of work. The Student Health Service provides for the general medical needs of the students. It is staffed 24 hours by a full-time registered nurse, a licensed practical nurse, and two upperclass students.
