There are many clark corners of our broad land in which the study of scientific agriculture as Z1 branch of education has not come into its ow11. ln such places, the struggle to give boys and girls a chance at this most important education- al pursuit. may be said to be a cause for which honest men and women, who have seen far enough into the future to have caught the vision, are willing' to battle. Yocational Education is indeed yet a comparatively new concept of education in this enlightened land of ours. ln some sections of the coun- try. it is true. it is beginning to be appreciated at its true worth, but in our Sum1y Southland it has resulted in the production of only a handful of men and women who cannot fill the huge demands made upon them to carry the gospel of Scientific Agricultural liducation to the more remote dis- tricts. Most of our men and women who are trained in the science of agri- culture and tl1e arts of home making are in demand as teachers and mis- sionaries of this new 'fcause . 1 The country, in its rapid strides. in which new things so quickly be- come old. will always need teachers and leaders to point out the way for so many who must follow and profit by the right kind of leadership. The Yocational Department of the A. X M. College of the Third Dis- trict are ever striving' to keep constantly before them the purpose for which the School was established and will zealously guard it, that it he not diverted into other channels by those who may discredit its growing' im- portance. through sheer lack of visio11. Vve are cver prayerful that if self- ishness must be a part of our motive in reaching our goal, to let that self- ishness be of a brand that will build up vocational education so that the time will come in our Southland, in the language of llcnry XY.
