THE STUDENT COUNCIL . The Student Council originated with a constitution drawn up by a group of temporary representatives chosen by each class in September. The election of officers was held on October 11 and was conducted in a manner similar to political elections: the candidates campaigned, official ballot forms were printed, and election booths were used. Every student voted freely and secretly for his favorite candidate. Temporary representatives tabu- lated the votes, and the following officers were elected for 1951-1952: President .............,,.,l .l....A .,......... P a ul Hurd Vice-President .l...,. ........, J im Curtiss Secretary ........,., .. ......... Marion Fall Treasurer .......,.,......i........,... ,......... ,... ,...,..,..... R a m ona Busse 'Three students from each class were chosen as student representa- tives in the Student Council. These representatives and officers were sworn into office by Common Pleas Judge Caris. . I The representatives chose Mr. Holb and Mrs. Fall as faculty advisors. The purpose of this organization is for the betterment and improvement of our school. The Student Council was responsible for the following: purchasing a popcorn machine, installing a coke machine, sponsoring square dances and noon time activities. The March of Dimes campaign was also conducted by this organization. I . MY VVRECK I had a car that went pretty fast. I went around a curve, and thought it was my last. When I stopped, four wheels in the air I got out and said a prayer. I took it home a total wreck dad saw it, and I got heck I fixed it up the best I could. V I knew it would run, or I thought it would. I started down a good sized hill, 2 There I had my greatest thrill. The brakes let go! I couldn't stop! And when I did-back on top. -by Paul Hurd 1 Page Twenty-Nine
