CHEERlJLADERS VARSITY MST CLUB On December 14h this club held its first meeting for the purpose of electing officers. Ben Wirbel The club was organized with 25 charter members for the betterment and im- provement of athletics. Students receiving a Varsity S Letter are eligible to be- come members of this organization. Initiation was held March 11. February 2 the club held a round and square dance which was a great success. Each member receives a Varsity S Jacket with a gold Pirate's Head, and gold lettering on the back . 'Projects for the year included an athletic banquet, a donkey basketball game and a gold letter S to be placed on the auditorium curtains. The Faculty Advisor is Mr. Ed Olszewski. PIRATES, PRIDE STAFF January ll, 1952, the first issue of the Pirates' Pride, our newspaper, came off the press. It was not until the next month however, that the paper was officially named. Doris Spencer submitted the name Pirates' Pride as anentry in the contest lto name our paper. This name along with others was voted upon by the entire student body. The name 4'Pirates' Priden won in the final count. Editorials, sports items, and scuttlebut are some of the features in each issue. In addition, original contributions of puzzles, poems and cartoons have appeared at various times. Interest in- creases as publishing date approaches early each month.
