Mildred Fall On September 4th, 1950, fifty wary students walked cautiously into our home rooms of a newly consolidated school. Mrs. Fall and Mr. Olszewski, our class advisors, managed to pull us through thick and thin of that year. We spent the first few weeks of school getting acquainted with each other. Walter Yingling was elected President of our class. One of the most important things our class did last year was choose the crest for our class rings, which will remain a tradition as the school seal of S. H. S. We sponsored Southeast's first Homecoming Dance, at which a Senior of '51, Ruth Sampson, was crowned Queen. F In the spring our class play, "Half Past", was presented under the direction of Mrs. all. We took two very interesting field trips, one to Nela Park in Cleveland, and the other to the Quaker Oats Plant in Akron. Q We sponsored the first prom at Southeast which was one of themost successful events of the year. We lost seven classmates during the course of our Junior year, so when we resumed school September 3, 1951, we had an enrollment of only 43. Seniors at last! There were times when it didn't seem possible that we would ever be known by the magical name. Seniors. Ed Yarolin having been elected our President, commenced his duties by holding a class meeting. At that time, we selected our class flower, colors and motto. Shortly before Christmas vacation, our pictures arrived. Our biggest project of the year, the Pirates' Log, was completed April 3, to the sat- isfaction of all involved. "Music in the Valley" a drama concerned with the problems of family during the war years, 1941-1947, was presented the nights of April 4th and 5th, The cast and the Senior Class experienced great satisfaction and pride in this particular play. May 10, the Seniors were entertained by the Junior Class at the annual Junior-Senior Prom, which was held in the Southeast Auditorium. Baccalaureate was May 18 in the Southeast Auditorium. The speaker was Reverend Emmett Harrel from Edinburg. Commencement at Last! It was held May 23 in the Southeast Auditorium. Page Nine
