Tepa urges the student body to help finance having a foreign exchange student next year. Tepa is presented with her Christmas gift from the Castle. To provide a more interesting school year, assem- blies were presented regularly. The School's first assembly was the installation of first semester Round Table officers. Also exhibited early in the year was a variety assembly, presented by the Crusader staff. The annual Christmas assembly was displayed December 20, just before the beginning of winter vacation. Tepa was presented a Christmas present from the school. Southeast's first science assembly was received this year by an enthusiastic student body. A lecturer and demonstrator from NASA gave an enlightening talk about America's space program. Some other assemblies presented were the Kansas City Philharmonic, pep assemblies, a Spring Play teaser and the play, A Raisin in the Sun. In addition to these general assemblies, scenes from various Shakespearean plays were presented by the advanced drama class for senior English classes.

Round Table Election, held January 31, began with the usual campaigning early that morning. The two candidates and the two campaign mana- gers were heard in a regular double assembly that same day. A seventh-hour an- nouncement relayed the news of Byron Schmidt's Presidency and Robert Simmons' Vice- Presidency. Urging unity among students is Robert Simmons. v l Mr. Evans presents Byron with a golden gavel, the symbol of his new office. Lee Steele lists the qualifica- tions of his candidate, Byron Schmidt.
