Che Making Upon first entering the doors of Southeast High School, a world of medieval pageantry unfolds before the page. This spirit of tradition and nobility is portrayed in the annual Induction Ceremony, The Making of a Knight. Written by Miss Maria Fetters, a former Southeast speech teacher, it introduces freshmen to the customs of the Castle and instills in them beliefs in truth, honor, freedom and courtesy. The setting is an evening in King Arthur's court. To formally present new students with extra- curricular activities, Merlin uses his magic powers to present various tableaux. A lively court jester adds to the gaiety as the king and queen reign over the festivities. With the words, In the name of Southeast,l dub thee Knight, the king bestows knighthood upon an outstanding senior boy. This year Byron Schmidt pledged himself to the code and heritage founded by King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.
