Heinz bids Southeast Guten Tag Dear Knights and Ladies: From the very beginning of my stay in the United States, I have appreciated the friendliness of the American people. As a newcomer in a strange land, this friend- ship has meant a great deal to me. During my stay here I have learned to admire the American people and have gained a better understanding of them. As a result of my experiences and pleasant associations, I feel that in my case the aim of the American Field Service, to promote understanding and friendship among the peoples of the world, has been fulfilled. I have learned that in some respects my homeland Austria is different from the United States, but both Austrians and Americans have the same basic ideal for the good life-the love for and pursuit of individual freedom. I will never forget Southeast with its excellent educational opportunities and its fine school spirit, nor will I forget my many friends in Kansas City. Sincerely, Q
