They are the friend- ly, energetic youths we see every day-our locker partners, our com- panions in the cafeteria, those very special friends without whom things iust aren't the same. The goal of the 1962 CRUSADER is to portray the daily lives of these students who help transform Southeast into a Castle. -----f-V -- - - - -. . -- .. -M -..iw .ty-- -, - ., -1---.A na... -mx M O O O 34 114-44114-44-1ii4i-r-9-QQQQSZQQGGE-I-li-.4. llii liIll1fTL..-.'ZIl.lf,, , ,, f 7' fa -- W- ,.f'-fq- ,v V Mx- 4 +A, in 'M M. 'i Always supporting Southeast and her students is Mr. McMillan, who is admired and respect- ed by both the faculty and student body. Ev- vises school activities, and sees that the Castle operates smoothly. HARRY R. McMlLLAN, PRINCIPAL Dear Seniors: Southeast's Knights and Ladies are typical of today's youth at their best. Giving of self and searching for one who will receive, they reap ioy. Performing assignments and supporting Castle activities, they experience personal satisfaction, and awareness of being a part of Southeast. Treating others with consideration, respect, and courtesy, they practice the behavior of a Lady or Gentleman. Refusing to wound the good name of Southeast, they take pride in her achievements, ideals, standards, and traditions. Working with the construction gang, not the wrecking crew, they build school spirit. i Defending our democracy with good citizenship, safeguarding the worth of the individual, retaining the power of government on the level of the governed, appreciating our Nation's achievements, supporting our Nation's objectives, and keeping faith in our Nation's future, they give evidence that the cost of education is valid and sound. Southeast's students are desirous of participating in the affairs of the present day earth. They will not ask, What can be done? Instead, they will ask, What should be done? Their answer will be, Let's do it! The destiny of the earth is yet to be determined. Decisions are yet to be made. Unspoken lines are yet to be spoken and heard. Unwritten lines are yet to be written and read. These opportunities, responsibilities, and challenges belong in part to the Knights and Ladies of Southeast. Their loyalty to all that we cherish will initiate, direct, and sustain their activities all the days of their lives. Sincerely, Harry R. McMillan Principal eryday he deals with student problems, super- ents nect- Ev- per- the Second in command is Mr. Powell, whose . .,.-f untiring interest in the welfare of Southeast has helped to preserve the high ideals and traditions of the Castle. il GEORGE R. In all that you do you should continue to reflect high ideals of honesty, industry, courtesy, dependability, and self-control. This will enable you, our Knights and Ladies, to demonstrate that your progress socially and morally has kept pace with the spectacular advancement which has been made in the physical sciences in your day. We sincerely hope that each of you will continue to show your appreciation for the opportunity of earning a diploma at Southeast High School. We also hope that each of you may contribute to and live in an age of peace and prosperity. Sincerely, George R. During my year here I have developed a strong loyalty to Southeast, its students and facul- ty. By your warmth and friend- liness, so characteristic of all Americans, you have made me feel a part of you. As I saw my first football and basketball games, as I stood spellbound watching snow fall for the first time, and as I skated over the ice, you were always with me, sharing my excitement and pleas- ure. Through the American Field Service program, which aims to develop better understanding be- tween nations, I have discovered that although languages and cus- toms differ, people are the same all over the world. I hope that through me you have learned about my people and my country so that Rhodesia will' no longer be iust a name on a map, but will have a special meaning for each of you. I thank you, students and facul- ty, for the happiness you have brought to me this year.
