JEANETTE HAMPTON Jeanette's four year stay at South Side has been a quiet one. Sweet and attractive in more ways than one, she always has a friendly greeting for everyone she meets. RICHARD HERTZBERG Richie's witty remarks have made him known to both students and teachers. A regular guy with a friendly air, he has won the admiration of all and will continue to do so in the -coming years. ALFRED HARRIS Here's to our incomparable Smoodie ! He's found the key to our hearts in his ready laughter. He has supplied us with much fun and joy during our stay at South Side, and we know he'll do the same for many others in later life. BURTON HERMAN Always willing to help those who need him, Burt takes a great deal of interest in school activities. He is a lover of music and prefers opera. With his personality he's sure to be constantly surrounded by loads of friends. NORMAN HILL Norman's quite a star in our class. As a member of the track and football teams, he is an all-around fellow. A fine sense of humor combined with honesty and fairness are Norman's outstanding attributes. PHYLLIS HARRIS Phyllis has participated in many activities and has always done a good job. A lover of music, she is a very prominent member of our class. We are sure that her career in music will be a success, class. THELMA HODGE To find an end to Thelma's attributes we would have to go far into infinity. Studious, original, f iendly, and a host of other adjectives only scratch the surface of compliments due to our Thelma because of her versatility. 15

JACK GOLLIN Jack's magnetic personality has left his mark on our class. His great athletic ability, proven on the basketball court, plus his sharp wit and good looks, have made Jack one of the most outstanding and best-liked members of our class. BETTY GRIFFIN Never sad, always in the midst of a happy group, Betty will never grow lonely. Her strawberry blonde hair and her sweetness are known to all. Her future will be bright and her chain of friends will never cease to grow. SHELDON GRANIK Sheldon is an ambitious, pleasant, and considerate person who deserves the best that life can offer. A necessary card in our playing hand, we wish him the best of luck and good fortune in years to come. HERBERT GRIES Just as honey draws bees, Herbie has attracted many friends and admirers. His champagne-like personality and his sincerity have {nade him a perfect pal, his keen wit and outstanding intelligence have insured him the admiration of his classmates. RHODA GROSS Liked are they of pleasant ways” -That's our Rhoda. Popular with all her classmates, she possesses all the qualities that are necessary to make a real success in life EDNA GREEN Little in size, big in ideas is Edna. She is liked by everyone and is impressive in everything she accomplishes. She is bound to be a success in any field in which she endeavors. HENRY HALL Man of few words are the best men. This applies to Henry who doesn't say much but shows his personality by the many friends he has made here at South Side. Good luck to a swell guy!

GLADYS JACKSON Gladys is capable of doing many things well, among them being singing and dancing. She is a good student and a good friend to all who know her. She will undoubtedly obtain success in. everything she does. BETTY LAKE Betty is a gal with a sweet smile and winning wavs. This talented mis-, is co-captain of the twirlers and can also do a smooth tap and oe. And-she can make a paintbrush or a few sketching pencils talk. HAROLD JAMES The track team and his art work have made Harold well known around South Side. He has proven his artistic ability by drawing for the Optimist. He is friendly to all and is liked by everyone. EDWARD JOHNSON Besides distinguishing himself as a gentleman, Ed has won the applause and admiration of all South Siders because of his ability on the gridiron. He is an “all-round boy and is sure to succeed in everything he does. IRENE KOHEN She can be seen encouraging our teams on to victory as a cheerleader, or she can be seen with a group of her classmates as a sincere friend. Sweet, popular, and very amiable all characterize Irene. r)vVy STEPHEN LaSURE Steve has been successful in making his mark-both on the track and in the classroom. His ability to make friends and his congeniality have won him a place in our hearts. We wish good luck to a swell guy. MARION LAWSON As Secretary of the Senior Class, Marion has done more than a »ood job and during her years at South Side she has made more than enough friends. Her witty remarks and her ready grin have brightened many school days.
