KVM ' M September 7th saw South again opening her doors after three months of sunny summer vacation. Saxons returned from water skiing, surfing, working in the cannery, travelling, and bean picking to hit the books. Unsure Sophomores, awed by a big new school, still clung tightly to their junior high identities, Juniors struggled to weld them- selves into a true Class, and self-assured Seniors felt confident in their new position as the top Class Pappy came over the P.A. loud and clear with a fresh supply of dandelions and roses. Scheduling was as exciting as ever with some Saxons drawing early classes for the third consecutive year. Many Sophomores and Juniors enjoyed push-ups on the dew-covered football field at 7:30 A.M. while they watched the sun-rise. Other students discovered that they had both an early and a late class with a study hall in the middle. Class leveling helped keep faculty and students on their toes for a few weeks. The football season began with a 20-0 victory over the McNary Celtics. And so began the 12th year of South Salem High School.
