Required And Elective Classes Bring 0ut Talents ln South Students Required classes are a big part ot the school day. To graduate a student needs forty-five credits, twenty-tour of these credits are required classes. A student needs nine English credits, three Math or Science, nine History, one Health, and two Phy. Ed. credits to graduate. Students must take one English and one Social Studies class every tri-mester. Ot the forty-five credits, twenty-one of these are elective classes. There is a wide variety or electives to choose from to bring out the students talents and to learn new things. These are some ot the elective classes a student can choose lrom: Art, Accounting, Typing, Shorthand, Drivers Education, Chemical Awareness, Home Economics, Industrial Arts, Yearbook, Modern Language, Music, and Special Education. There is a work study program so a student can go halt of the day to school, and then have on the iob experience. There are also Secondary Center Programs that give opportunities in Occupational Education. Top South Hi h Students Belon To National Honor Society The National Honor Society is based on scholarship, character, service and leadership. A student needs a 3.5 GPA to become a member. Students who are eligible must follow a specific procedure, which includes recom- mendations by teachers, parents and a review committee evaluation. The Honor Society students plan to work on a service project for the school, and they also sponsored the hayride on Sno-Daze. A In April, juniors along with other seniors who qualify will be inducted into the society. 1. Chris Ozolins and Warren Kaari think up new ideas for the National Honor Society. 2.
