PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE TO THE CLASS OF JUNE 1966: Upon graduation from South High School you become members of a select company. And you are entitled to be proud. In process of proving yourself by success in high school you have also incurred an obligation. Each of us who has had his capacity sharpened and developed by public education is under a debt. Not, as you might think, to the past so much as to the future. Your debt is to those who come after you--your children and all the children of the future. This is the way civilization advances, the only way. To work for a world in which peace and plenty, harmony and joy prevail, that is your business. By doing it you will not only discharge your obligation, but will also derive great personal satisfaction. My wish for you is that your high school successes be repeated in your life, and reflected in the good of our entire community. Oliver J. Deex
