Letter to Advlser Coopcr W1th these graduates 1n the ITl6LllLll profcsslons, we won t have to worry about getting sxck, wlll we' I really enjoyed my chat wxth Frances 'Ihe next person I contacted was Paulme Marchlonna Remember that she and I were both members of the Annual Comm1ttcc7 Well she told me 1 few excltmg things too For example, she IS the stenographer for a theatrrcal agency and she had typed out a contract for Donna Kendro s appear ance at Carnegle Hall she was supposed to present a one hour concert made up of the song h1ts she recorded She has also typed bookmgs for guest appearances w1th Guy Lombardo s orchestrl for Roy Heldloff Speakmg of muslc, john Splsak has a polka band and Ronald Gardncr has h1s own nlght club and a very popular dance band We wmted to spcnd one evcnmg at Gardncrs club but tlmc wouldn t pcrm1t If One thmg we were all able to do was to go to a baseball game to see the Cleveland Indlans play the New York Yankees I was glancmg through the score card and who should the startmg left Helder be but Harry Deal You should have seen thc homcrun he h1t to wm the game for the Indlans I learned that 1n our class we had nmc engmeers Roger Glover IS a mechtmcal englneer, Wlllnam Hellwlg and Donald Ger lnger are electrical engmeers and Kenneth Runt IS a chemlcal engmeer 'I hese boys are all alumnl of Case and I m sure most elftcent workers Rlchard Golemblewskl went to Ohlo State and became a metallurglcal en glneer Other boys ln h1s class were Paul Hulka Carl Wysockn and Davnd Sobcy cent of thelr college graduatmg class Doesn t that make you feel proud? As much as I hated leaving Cleveland wc st1ll had many new places to go I surely dld enjoy seemg class members thcrc and hearmg of many who have been so success ful It makes me so happy to be one of the same group Passlng through Columbus we wcrc stopped by a polncewoman who mformed us that there was a law against blowmg your horn m the c1ty After we thanked her and drove otf I couldn t get the thought out of my mmd that I had seen her somewhere, and then lf dawned on me It was Mnldrcd Dolezal Our nut cvpcrlence that w ls very mem orablc was gomg to the Indlanapolns speed way The wlnnmg dr1ver vsas Kenneth GICFSZ Dld he ever gxve us a scare when he almost dndn t make a turn It was the first txme I had ever gone to a hugh speed car race and If really was excmng especnally when Kenneth placed Hrst In Chrcago I became very fasc1n lted whnle o m . Letter to Adv1ser Dear Mr 'lanc7os Fxfteen long years have passed smce l walked through the halls of South Hrgh School So many thrngs have happened to me since I graduated some have been good and of course others have been bad R cently I had the prrvrlege of gorng on a three month vacation wrth my husband and chrldren 'I he mam purpose of the trip was to VISII and learn about as many people as posslble who graduated with me I thought you mrght be Interested to learn of the ones I saw md heard about and lm sure you wrll be proud of the successful lrves many of them are leadlng rn the1r homes schools churches and communrtres We went to the travel agency 1n my hometown of Buffalo New York and there the detalls of our trrp were mapped out by Corune Bogackl who IS at the head of the agency I thmk she should be comp11 mented for a wonderful yob we had a most enjoyable trrp We left our home at 8 00 a m on Sunday ful day and one couldn t help but be happy The first place I came 1nto contact w1th a member of our class was at Erne Pa where we stopped at a frrm that my hus band had carrred on a buslness transact1on with prevlously It IS headed by the very capable Robert Pethra We were very cor d1ally welcomed by hrs receptronrst Dorrs Danrels and she told us to make sure we VlSlICd Patrrcra Hacka before leavmg She IS Bob s frlmg clerk Seemg these few members of thc class really pepped me up and l grew more anxrous than ever to contrnue our travels and hear more Instead of looklng at scenery I found myself remrnxscmg about the Prom and fun we all had on Senror Day and at Camp Cheerful Oh' what memorrcs Ill never forget them We finally arrrved ln Cleveland South Hugh looks the same and I was so very pleased to learn that our prcsldent Don Kral is teaching Hrstory If South along Wlth Fd Wolskr who IS thc Gym mstuctor Nancy McAleer IS the grrls Phys fd teacher and Alberta Lmden teaches Brology Wrth these excellent puplls on tae faculty Im sure South Hugh has xery hugh standards Don told me that oann Bcrtolmr teaches Hrstory also but at ames Ford Rhodes md that Frances Yugovrtz IS thc Adv lnced Math teacher If Iohn Adams I contlctcd Frances and we had dinner together at Stouffers one day Wc began talking about what h lp pened to thc girls that we used to assoclltc with and Franny supplied me with answers to every qucstron Nrny Cerny and Noreen Reddlg were both prnate secret 1r1es untrl the1r marriages Nancy Kocarek Barbara La Bant Barbara Genutls PatOtloSlx1 Eleanor larosvewskr Phyllrs Kozlevclr md Norma Sedlak all became reglstered nurses and some specralued ln one field For mstance Nancy works wrth and cares for bab1es and Barbara rs the head nurse rn the men s ward From our class came one succcssful doctor I was 1m ucd to learn thut rt IS Ruth Ann 0 . 1 . , 1 1 ' ' ,' 1 1 ' 7 2 1 1 ' 1 ' ' l l ' 1 . 1 ' L I I s v . , 5 V . . . 1 1 v - e' . . . . . 7 r r K I Y' . . 1 - ' . - - L I n F 1 Q . . . . 1 , 1 - - 1 I I ,J 7 ' 2 ' 1 . . 2 1 . Letter to Advlser watchlng rl sngn belng erected outsnde a department store The man who was sup ervrsrng the whole aFfa1r was Damel Wmer who owns the sxgn makmg corporatlon I walked over and talked to hrm He told me that Walter Dlckow IS a mortrclan there ln Chrcago and that Norman Branstexn and Ellen Hartnegel are both certnfied publlc accountants for one of the large firms Tony Cejer works as a draftsman at the same place I th1nk rt IS very nnce that some of the class were able to stay together Passmg through the Northwestern states was very wonderful The scenery IS beyond descrnptron We saw some real honest to goodness western ranches made up of thou sands of acres of land In contrast to these ranches we saw many dude ranches We stopped and v1s1ted one ln Sun Valley Idaho We chose th1s one because th1s IS where Gerald Chapple rs a cowboy and Charles Krawulskx rs also a lanky dude If you remember Chas, he was only half a lank rn hlgh school Robert Kuzllk owns about 15,000 head of horses whlch he drstrrbutes to many dudc ranches for the gucst to rndc Th1s ranch was one of them The first place we had any trouble wlth the car was rn MCdlLlHC bprmgs Idaho We weren t any too happy about breakrng down her bccause II IS located by the Rxver of No Return If xt hadn t been for rm Tengler and Laddy Stastny fixrng the car ln only 1 few hours, I bclneve we would strll be plddlmg up the r1vcr In Seattle we met up wnth the members of my class that had jomed some branch of the Armed Forces Sgt Gall Korbel IS a Navy nurse, and Corp Arlene Mal1ck1 IS a Gym mstructor 1n the Wavcs The Navy Captarns, George Vrncej lfltl Ray Rygxel are also stat1oned there In San Francrsco I saw tw o more class mem bers wearlng unlforms, but of 1 different style Thcy were unrforms of I W A zur l1ne stewardesses Wearlng them were Shut ley Mergen md Rose M1r1c Wlotzko Rosie sald that one of the frequent passengers on her coast to coast flrght IS Robert Hopknns who IS .1 desrgner of pe 1cct1mc 1tom1c ma chlnery and has two offlces, one 1n New York and the other on the West coast On our w1y down the West coast wc enyoyed 11 swrm every day so that by the time we reached Hollyvs ood and Long Beach we d1dn t look too much lnke tourlsts Un fortunately, we dldn t see any movre stars, but I drdn t mmd because seemg the class members was more of a thrrll to me than seelng Stewart Granger would have been We had a most enjoyable stay rn Calx forn1a but two months had gonc by so wc had to say .1 very hurrred good bye and leave for Phoenix, Arizona our next stop In Phoenlx the frrst place wc went was to v1s1t my slster Sally, my brother rn law and nephews I knew Sallv would be able to tell me of some of the class and fortunately she knew a whole host of them Geraldme Mannlng IS her second sons knndergarten f v A X ' 3 k . .
