19 • SOUTHERNAIRE • 37 A Salute to Club Activities NO high school education is complete if a student has failed to enter into extra-curricular activities. These organizations add a polish a finishing touch to the pupil’s high school career. The things that count are the things that last. By joining different activities a student makes some life-long friends. lie also meets his schoolmates in a different atmosphere, one of companionship and frivolity. By being elected to various offices, the pupil learns to shoulder responsibility. Some clubs are organized for the purpose of carrying on some project in which the members, really being interested, do some remarkable work. Every individual has some latent power which, if given the opportunity to show itself, possibly through these clubs, may develop into astounding proportions. The world is ever as we take it, but life, dear child, is what we make it —and so is school. Out of the whole high school course, the pupil remembers most vividly the time he has spent not in the sometimes tedious classroom, but the time spent on various activities. Philalcthean Society J TO be a member of the Philalcthean Girls' Honorary Society one must have special qualifications, among them scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
