CLASS PROPHECY After being chosen to write the class Prophecy, I was really astonished because I began to wonder how would I know what my classmates would be doing five, ten, or even twenty years from now. Just as I was about to give up, I noticed the crystal ball setting on my vanity table. Before now I have never been one to believe in crystal balls but at this time it seemed to light up. So to satisfy my curiosity I picked if up, remembering the words of friends, who had given it to me as a reminder of them. They told me to concentrate deeply and I could see what was going to happen in the future. Closing my eyes, I wondered what Christine Boddie would be doing five years from now and to my surprise, I could see her as a Chemistry in- structor at Tuskegee Institute. As she conversed with other teachers, I was impressed because there beside her was, Ernestine Berry and Johnny Buford on the same faculty. Looking into a crystal ball seemed very childish, if anyone had asked what I was doing, I know I would have failed to give an adequate explanation, therefore, I continued to gaze, until I saw James C. Henry marching 350 steps a minute with the Florida A 84 M Snakes, Jimmy Bellamy, playing cente: with the Harlem Globe Skippers. Helen Johnson the Head Nurse at Walter Reid Hospital, and James Sellers, William Fredrick, and Verner Harris Interns returning from a meeting headed by Doctor John McClendon. This was getting very exciting so I continued to gaze into my ball, this time I see Dorothy Gibson coming out of the recording studio of R.C.A. Victor, after cutting another hit tune. I see Peggy Ford riding in a new Ford with a whole lots of little Purple lips. I see Willie Martin running around the Football field in a baby diaper, because he couIdn't find a football suit large enough to fit him. Mabel Dixion, Eula Dixion, Marian Gaines, Mary Ingram and Burnadine Hubbard Cheerleaders for Cap O Hap and Marie Ingram still criticizing and complaining about her husband, but is too poor to get a divorce. Jessie Farley has his own T.V. show now, Sweet Daddy Farly. Gazing into the ball was getting to be a habit and if it were taken from me I would be lost, Jacquelyn Robinson, a fashion designer in Paris, France and Marian Randall her favorite model. I knew we had some athletes in our class, so I gazed and I saw Larry Justice pitcher for the New York Yankees. Now my eyes are getting tired, but I had to finish. Oh now I see Jimmy Sims a professor at Chain gang University. Norman Key is still walking down the Opelika Road, trying to get to school on time. Delia Lynn and Cigerd Smith have finally gotten married after being engaged for twenty years. Annie Jackson, just finished making a picture in which she co-starred with Bridget Bardot. Now I see Betty Shorts leading Majorette at Alabama State College, Christine Williams is still riding around in that beat up old Oldsmobile. As the picture faded out, another one came into focus, there upon my eyes was Eugene Jones, a great Evangelist holding a revival at Madison Square Garden, Ella Brown has finally gotten Solomon Denard to say I do. Christine Plezes and Alvernia Wright are fighting over a book and the title, My Man. Lillian Pearson and Mary Shortz are co-eds at Clark College, Evon Johnson and Lenarthia Davis were the guest stars on the Beverly Hill-billies. I see Clifford Epps a Disc jockey on WXTY, he is better known as Sir Ragged Knight. Earlene Bass is a great Pianist, J. C. Johnson and Johnnie Glover, Contractors hired by the secretary of interior. Robert Jones hasn't reached the conclusion that he is not a singer, Jerry Brewer has finally graduated, Archie Gary is a great artist, he just finished painting Huckle- berry Hound. Mary Lee Hicks is a stewardess in a plane which Isaac Reynolds is the Pilot and Alexander Scott is still going around kissing girls hands because he is sweet Scott. Sadie Mitchell is an actress, appearing at Harlems' famous Apollo Theater. Willie Wyatt is operating a bootleging Racket from Alabama. I see Sidney Thomas knocking one of Willie Williams little ears off. I see Eddie Gibson one of the scientists traveling to the moon, looking for some green cheese, John Coar is still going up to Westview to eat lunch. Naomi Hurt is Dr. Killjoy's private nurse. And last, but not least, I see Mary McCoy married, working on her M.A. degree at Tuskegee Institute. By: Helen Johnson 84 Mary McCoy
