In Sepfember I946. approximafely 49 very frighfened liffle Freshmen huddled fo- gefher in fhe halls of Soufh Forlc. The rooms were dim and foreboding, fhe feachers seemed like gianfs fo fhe poor liffle class of I950. Yes, fhaf was how our class felf fhen. Alfhough we were frighfened af firsf, we rallied our courage and elecfed Farrar Richardson as Presidenf, Genevieve Bowman as Vice Presidenf, and Mary Barlchursf as Secrefary. Wifh fhese fhree fo lead us we made our way fhrough our firsf year af S. F. Our acfivifies fhaf year, due mosfly fo our frighf, were very few. ln our sophomore year we were a liffle braver, because affer all. fhere was a class under us! Wifh Presidenf Yvonne Morrison, Vice Presidenf Earnesf Gray, and Secrefary Paf Bullis, all 49 of us sfarfed gaily on our way fhrough our second year in High School. Thaf year, as I recall, we gave a Backwards Dance which was very successful. By fhe 'rime lhe fhird year rolled around we were really feeling proud. So . . . Firsf of all we elecfed class officers: Bill Smifh, Presidenfg Mary Barlchursf, Vice Presidenfg and Yvonne Brockway, Secrefary. Wifh fhis done fhe whole class of 45 pupils puf fheir heads fogefher and decided fo really make This year a success. Firsf of all, we gave a Mixer Parfy. Then we decided fo have our Junior-Senior Banquef af fhe Foresf of Arden. A liffle lafer came fhe long-awaifed for-Prom. As usual if was a huge success. Then af lasf came our lasf year. Yes. af lasf we were mighfy Seniors. For our Senior year fhe officers were Presidenf Daren Websfer, Vice Presidenf Jim Mafhews, and Sec- refary Loreffa Toffen. Our original number had dropped fo 38, buf fhen one more Senior moved in and broughf our fofal baclc up fo 39, and we were 39 Seniors. Sfaunch and True 'ro our class. Ordering our Senior picfures. cards, and announcemenfs made us feel fhaf af lasf we were really fhe Big Wheels of fhis year. There is sfill fhe Banquef lfor us fhis yearl, The Prom and fhe picnic fo loolc forward fo. And lasf buf noi' leasf somewhere around fhe I5+h of June, fhe day will come when we will wall: proudly down fhe aisle fo become alumni of Dear Old Soufh Forlc High.
