CLASS HISTORY In September of nineteen hundred and sixty-five, South Dorchester received twenty-five heterogeneous faces. We entered the doors as optimistic specimens, who were awaiting the teachers commands. Many considered this a fun year , while others were eager to acquire the knowledge that was awaiting us in our remaining years at South Dorchester. A year passed by and we entered our second year of Junior High with thirty-one students . Cathy Abbott and Robin Hall represented us in the Student Council. Finally in the year of sixty-seven we received the title as Freshmen. Cathy Abbott was elected Treasurer of the Student Council and Sharon Parks and Billy Newcomb were chosen to represent our class. We not only held positions in the Student Council, but our class officers were: President -- Bonnie Parks; Vice-President -- Robin Hall; Secretary -- Jenny Rippons; Treasurer -- Millie Dean. We ventured into our Sophomore year as twenty-six students. Millie Dean was elected Secretary of the Student Council. Sharon Parks and Robin Hall represented us. The class officers we re: President -- Carmen Santiago; Vice-President -- Phil Jones; Secretary -- Cheryl Jones; Treasurer -- Sonny Ruark. We eagerly acclaimed the role of Juniors. The sponsoring of the Junior-Senior Prom, and acquiring our class rings were symbols of our years of hard work. Bonnie Parks again led our class as President. Cathy Abbott was Vice-President, with Jenny Rippons as Secretary and Sharon Parks as Treasurer. Cathy Abbott was elected Vice - President of the Student Council. Sharon Parks and Billy Newcomb again regained their positions as representa - tives. Finally we are Seniors. Bonnie Parks leads our class while Mickey Riley is Vice-President, Jenny Rippons -- Secretary, and Sharon Parks -- Treasurer. Sonny Ruark and Delores Powley serves as representatives. Our leaders are Cheryl Jones, holding the position of editor of the MARINER, and Bonnie Parks, acting as editor of the SO DO. Reigning over the Student Council as President is Sharon Parks. Our Senior Class consists of twenty-three illustrious students. The Senior Play, the Junior-Senior Prom, and the receiving of our diplomas completes our years at SDHS. With the help of the faculty, and the principal, and as the saying goes, 'No man is an island , this holds true for us as Seniors. We have worked hard to achieve this title. Now as we bid our farewell in happiness, and in sadness, to our principal, faculty, and fellow students, we have a feeling of pride to have had the opportunity of having a role in the history of South Dorchester High School. 18
