The Spartan of early Greece has been de- scribed as being physically and mentally disciplined to the highest degree. He was a proud member of a military aristocracy. However, his rigid training left him con- servative, unimaginative, narrow-minded, and suspicious of all outsiders. As a symbol of our school, the Spartan, should keep us ever aware of our goal, to become physically and mentally disci- plined; but at the same time we should become more well rounded and useful persons than this figure of old.
