Coach Richard Taylor's first South tennis team lin- ished with a 21-27 win-loss record last year, good for eighth place in the city conference. This was a notable improvement over the preceding year's eleventh place finish. Highlights for the season included 4-0 victories over King and West, and 3-1 victories over North and Lincoln. The individual highlight was senior Gary Frank's fifth place in the city tournament. On athletic honor day Coach Taylor awarded the captain's star to Gary Frank and the Carl Bechtold tennis award to Greg Weber. The outlook for this year is even more promising. There are 31 candidates for the team, including four returning lettermen: Fred Pouros, Greg Weber, Lor- en Czarapata, and John Andrews. These four, along with first-year-man Scott Davis, will attempt to better the 1966 record. 2 IOS
